Success Stories

  • Make Water is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to inspiring students 3rd-12th to become water heroes.

MakeWater came to Birdie in need of an evergreen, easy to distribute education component to support their hands-on kit.

Birdied and founder Ryan together redesigned the introductory water purification kit and produced a step-by-step, 2-video curriculum to increase Make Water’s scalability and impact. In true collaboration, this product is co-branded and co-marketed.

Students become citizen scientists and tackle real-world water issues with a DIY, STEM water purification kit that uses electrocoagulation.

Also included is a digital journal that houses the video curriculum, a redesigned trifold pamphlet for instructions, record keeping, and - of course - the videos that use the 3- E’s to keep 3rd through 6th graders engaged and entertained as they learn about electrocoagulation.

  • Blooming with Birdie served as a consultant for the SAWS educational team on a World Water Day digital learning experience to help build water literacy in an engaging and informative way. Check it out here!

  • Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering (TAME) is a nonprofit dedicated to creating equitable experiences for students from underrepresented groups to explore futures in engineering.

Blooming with Birdie designed and created a digital and hands-on series built around a water engineering design challenge. The curriculum uses the MakeWater water purification kit to help students build confidence in engineering design.

  • Rainbow Gardens and Blooming with Birdie teamed up to create an accessible and easy-to-follow Pollinator Gardening series for families and grown-ups to plant their very own pollinator oasis.

There are two versions of the series: one for families and one for grown-up kids.

The kit comes with step-by-step instructional videos, two 1-gallon pollinator plants, detailed plant cards and a digital journal.

  • Monika Maeckle, the founder of Texas Butterfly Ranch, needed a TEKS-aligned digital learning curriculum to support the Caterpillar Condos for Classrooms program.

The Caterpillar Condos for Classrooms is part of the Monarch Butterfly and Pollinator Festival that, in partnership with the San Antonio River Foundation and Valero, provides Title- I elementary classrooms with a mesh cage, milkweed plant, and monarch caterpillar.

After collaborating with butterfly expert Monika and elementary science teachers, we created the Caterpillar Condo series. This 4-lesson series led by Birdie, our curious, warm-hearted guide, takes children on a journey through the metamorphosis of the Monarch Butterfly.

Children use their minds, body, and heart to transform into Citizen Scientists. They explore the difference between plants and animals, make observations of the caterpillar and milkweed plant, learn how to record and share data, dance out metamorphosis, discover the importance of conservation, make a spiritual and emotional connection with the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead and Mexican hero Catalina Aguado, and much more.

This annual program includes 4-videos, a monarch journal and a teacher training program. It has been in over 125 classrooms, libraries, and homes throughout Bexar County, Comal County, and Austin.

  • The educational director from Musial Bridges contacted us after watching our first series, Caterpillar Condos. His non-profit program, Musical Sprouts, needed support to create a TEKS-aligned and STEAM digital learning curriculum for their community of 10 title-I schools that previously received in-person lessons.

After collaborative meetings to determine theme and style, we created the Sprouts Japan series. This 4-lesson series took our main character, teacher Ashley, and her side-kick Miki, an original character designed by Christie Kaye, to sites throughout San Antonio.

Children explored the science of sound and drums through digital song-creation, the art of hands-on paper flower making and Ikebana, geometrical pattern recognition in architecture and nature, the emotional and mental benefits of meditation, the theatrical experience of Bunraku, the challenges of conflict resolution, and much more.

This program was reviewed by the UTSA Mental Health and Research team: "The Japan video lessons are a creative and impactful medium to teach cultural competence and broaden worldly perspectives to students. The youthful cartoon component and human host provides students with an entertaining lesson in the art, music, and culture of Japan."

  • Birdie created a series titled “Pollinator Power” to help tell the story of pollinator appreciation at the Pearl. Viewers learned all about the many amazing ways we rely on pollinators for so many of our favorite food, drinks, and more!
