Bike Rides – Bats & Pollinators
Join San Antonio River Authority staff for an hour-long bike ride program along the Mission Reach of the San Antonio River! Participants will enjoy a scenic ride on electric B-Cycle bicycles while learning about the natural world and cultural history of the area. It’s a perfect blend of exercise and exploration making each ride a unique and enriching experience. Please note that you must know how to ride a bike and be 18 years or older to participate.
Intro to Birding
Join us for Introduction to Birding, where you'll discover how to refine your birdwatching skills and enhance your understanding of these fascinating creatures. This class will prepare you for fieldwork by teaching you what to observe and how to use essential birding tools effectively.
Beginner Bird Walk
Join us every fourth Saturday for Bird Tours designed for the beginning birder. There's no better place for learning how to bird. At Mitchell Lake Audubon Center, we host 300+ birds annually on our 1,200-acre sanctuary which includes four diverse habitats for our wildlife: wetlands, woodlands, brushlands and grasslands.
Muertos Fest
Muertos Fest, San Antonio's beloved, cultural event, returns to Hemisfair for its 13th year of celebration! This year, Muertos Fest will add a day to become a THREE-day festival on Oct 24-26, 2025.

Fall NABA Butterfly Survey
Fall North American Butterfly Association Survey
Butterfly counts are driven by butterfly lovers just like you. All it takes is a desire to participate in a day-long count to help track the North American butterfly populations. Counts are open to the public and count on new participants like you. Depending on the count, one or more parties will survey sites within the 15-mile diameter count circle on a given day. The compiler (count leader) will let you know when and where to meet.
Pollinator gardening 102
Do you love pollinators and want to take your garden to the next level? Join Laura Jarvis, owner of The Butterfly Landing, for an in-depth look at creating a thriving pollinator haven. In this class, Laura will introduce you to even more butterfly species and the host plants they rely on, with a special focus on native options. She’ll also share tips on caring for both the plants and the butterflies they attract, giving you practical tools to support a healthy, sustainable garden.
This session is a perfect follow-up if you’ve taken our Pollinator Gardening 101 class, but it’s not a repeat—Pollinator Gardening 102 offers all-new content. Prior attendance in 101 is not required, though some butterfly gardening experience will be helpful. This class is an official event of the 2025 Monarch and Pollinator Festival.
